Origin story
Forged from sheer grit and determination, Steel City Sports Massage and MedSpa was the creation of it’s founding leader, Kari Frank. Using her years of experience, skill and talent, Kari developed the popular massage facility specifically designed for athletes in need of sport recovery and competition readiness care. For 8 years SCSMM was the staple place to go for youth, amateurs and professional athletes alike. Even arm-chair athletes are welcome! Kari built a solid reputation for her company by hiring competent therapists as demand grew.
Like many things in life, time and circumstance can change dynamics in business, and the demands of working with the pro-football team players, of family life, and running a successful massage company full-time became a heavy burden for one person. Something had to give in order for Kari to maintain the same balanced, healthy lifestyle that she teaches to her clients. She reached out to her team for help. Kimberly Hanley has worked for Kari for 3 years , but has known Kari for over 20 years in the industry. Kim acknowledged the opportunity to step up and help Kari . She submitted a business plan to Kari that made enough sense to give Kari the respite from the daily business responsibilities that she needed. This plan included transferring leadership and changing the name and logo to encompass a more broad approach to the massage concept.
Enter Pittsburgh Massage Company. The name is general enough to tell people where and what the business is about, and the logo is a picture of a massage therapist super imposed over the city skyline inside a circle, depicting that PMC accommodates all of Pittsburgh and surrounding areas. PMC retained all of their 5-star rated licensed massage therapists and acupuncturist from SCSMM, and has hired several more highly talented LMTs.
Pittsburgh Massage Company, while newly formed, like the Phoenix rising from the ashes, still retains the same grit and determination, skill and talent, competence and experience that our clients have come to expect and respect. Our therapists have varied backgrounds. We hire licensed therapists with years of experience and other skill sets that bring a holistic approach to your health care program.
